Metrolinx and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) have partnered to study and develop the 4.7 kilometre extension from Renforth Station to Toronto Pearson International Airport and un updated business case analysis is underway. An airport connection has been contemplated in long-term plans for the Crosstown LRT since before 2009. Connecting to Toronto Pearson would benefit both airport users as well as workers in the airport area and regional travelers through a growing ground transit hub with connections to UP Express, TTC, MiWay, Brampton Transit and GO Transit.

An airport connection would:

  • improve access, reliability and travel times for air travelers
  • improve accessibility for the 50,000 jobs at the airport
  • improve access to thousands of additional jobs in the airport employment zone
  • provide a new transit hub for regional travel through the airport area
  • include up to three stations

The study involves close collaboration with the City of Mississauga, Peel Region and the City of Toronto.
