Train testing will be starting on the surface section sometime this spring or summer. Metrolinx says any LRV's testing on the surface section must come from and be stored at the Eglinton Maintenance and Storage Facility. How do they get to the surface section when the trackage and OCS at Eglinton station is not even installed yet? When will trackage and OCS be complete between Caledonia and Laird to allow access to the surface section for testing between Laird and Kennedy?

The testing of the revenue vehicles (LRV) has been ongoing for some time between the EMSF and Caledonia. For the next phase of testing, LRVs will be transported by road to the at-grade section, where they will operate between Laird and Kennedy until the track and OCS are completed through Eglinton Station next year.

The Eglinton Crosstown LRT is a significant project, and works are completed in phases. Preliminary construction began in the summer of 2011 and the project is expected to be complete in 2022.

Tunnel boring machines began tunnelling from the west in summer 2013 and from the east in fall 2015; tunnelling was complete in August 2016.

Work began on station construction in 2015 and by the end of 2016, construction was underway at all 15 underground stations.

In February 2020, Metrolinx announced the project would be delayed from its original completion date of September 2021 to a new date of 2022. Our CEO's statement can be read here: https://blog.metrolinx.com/2020/02/18/metrolinx-statement-on-delay-of-eg...

Vehicles on the Eglinton Crosstown LRT will operate at-grade in the proximity of traffic and pedestrians. As a result, the power must be overhead.
