Metrolinx’s Eglinton Crosstown, Toronto’s new light rail transit line, continues to make tremendous progress.
This includes the near-completion of multiple stations, the installation of 100% of track, and ongoing vehicle and systems testing.
When complete, the Crosstown will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60% faster than the bus service today. With 25 stations and stops, the Crosstown will change the way we move through the heart of the city.
You can also view the materials and questions from the previous West Works virtual open house.

How far along is the construction of Eglinton station?
AnonymousJust wondering how much has been completed at the station at Yonge + Eglinton. Parts of the Line 1 platform are very narrow (which I presume will connect to the new LRT station) and seem slightly dangerous at busy times. There are also still many construction sites around the station with openings and materials on the street. When are these issues expected to be resolved? If a specific date can’t be given, what are the steps to completion and how far along is it?
time lines
AnonymousWhat is the projected date ( not just 2022)for when Eglinton Ave will have its road resurfaced and side walks renewed free of barriers.
When road resurfacing will complete?
AnonymousI'm asking about road resurfacing between the Cedarvale and Forest Hill stations. It's apparently underway on the blocked lanes but is it going to extend all the way between the stations? In other words, is there going to be resurfacing and modification to the segment of Eglinton Ave W that's not currently blocked? Will it be about just the asphalt or the new dedicated bike lanes will extend all the way?
Given that the resurfacing can only take place in spring/summer, is there a timeline on when this will take place?
Answer: Road resurfacing between Cedarvale & Forest Hill
MetrolinxStretches of Eglinton Avenue between Cedarvale and Forest Hill Stations will not be restored as part of the ECLRT Project. The City of Toronto can provide more information about the planned road restoration for these areas.
Will REAL transit priority be implemented at traffic signals?
AnonymousWill the 100+ onboard the light rail vehicles (and streetcars & buses) have to wait for the 3 or 4 single-occupant motor vehicles making their left turns? Or would that anger the automobile gods or their disciples if they do?
Why don't you be honest with us the tax payers?
AnonymousWe all know the EGLRT won't open this year. It is common knowledge amongst Metrolinx / MOT circles. Why not just come forward and be transparent about it rather than focus having false hope. That is why people get upset. So I am asking you today, under the best of your knowledge do you still plan to open the LRT by end of the year or is there discussions now moving to 2023 opening?
Answer
MetrolinxPlease see the response to this inquiry in the FAQ section above.
Will there be GO connection Buses to Mount Dennis Station?
GoldenIf coming from from west (401) of Toronto. Will there be go buses from other GO stations that aren't on the Kitchener line. Will there be buses from for example Meadowvale Go?
Will there be parking at the station similar to Kipling Station?
Answer
MetrolinxGO buses will not operate at Mount Dennis LRT, GO/UP Stations. The Bus terminal located at Mount Dennis will serve only the surrounding areas TTC bus routes. There is no public parking at Mount Dennis LRT, GO/UP Station. There is only a Passenger Pick Up and Drop Off area (PPUDO).
Bike share facilities?
AnonymousWill bike sharing facilities be installed at all the stations? What about GO/UPX stations at or nearby (Weston GO/UPX)? What about destinations nearly, like West Park Healthcare Centre at Jane & Weston (maybe include a bike share at Jane & Weston)?
Answer
MetrolinxMount Dennis Station will have a Bike Storage Room connected to the Main Entrance that is being operated and managed by the City of Toronto.Metrolinx is currently in the process of designing the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) stations. We will continue to engage the public on station design as it evolves.
What’s with the continued and frequent shutdowns of Line 1?
AnonymousIs the structural integrity along Eglinton/Yonge that bad to warrant shutdowns every other week? How will we be able to trust the structural supports within if this keeps happening?
When will the Eglinton crosstown LRT will really open this fall?
darkcondor78You said that the Crosstown will be finished this fall. I guess the public will ride it sometime next year am I correct?
Answer
MetrolinxPlease see the response to this inquiry in the FAQ section above.
Where can I find details on estimated travel times once open?
AnonymousI'm wondering if there is anywhere I could look for projected travel times once the crosstown line DOES open - eg. if I wanted to estimate how long it would take to get from one location to another, in the same way I often do using google maps, would it be possible to do that integrating the LRT into the mix? (I am hoping to start a new job in the Fall or Winter and would love to be able to figure out how long my commute will be if / when the LRT starts running, because I live very close to a new station!)
When will a traffic plan be released?
AnonymousWill previous restrictions to left/right turns onto/off of Eglinton West between Bathurst and Allen be restored. Cedarvale north/southbound streets are dangerous, clogged, noisy 24/7. When will temporarily closed north/southbound streets like Strathearn be re-opened to alleviate traffic volume on Menin Road, Rostrevor? Will traffic duty police/flaggers be posted at high volume/dangerous/uncontrolled intersections? Accidents continue to escalate, as do the tempers of motorists heading to and from Allen Road caught in the untenable traffic maze.
Answer: Strathearn expected to reopen
MetrolinxStrathearn is expected to reopen in early July 2022.
Majority of the intersections referenced along the Bathurst to Allen stretch are outside of our constructor, CTS’ work zones. These areas would therefore fall under the purview of the City of Toronto and Toronto Police Service for monitoring and enforcement.
Cedarvale Station Pedestrian Crossing
AnonymousWhen will the Pedestrian Crossing on the east side of the station be opened back up?
Answer: Pedestrian crossing at Cedarvale St.
MetrolinxRoad and sidewalk restoration works are ongoing at Cedarvale Station and are expected to reach completion in early Fall 2022.
Left turns from Bathurst on Eglinton
AnonymousWhen will left turns from Bathurst onto Eglinton be allowed?
Answer: Left turns from Bathurst
MetrolinxThe southbound right turn is expected to reopen in late July 2022, and the northbound left turn is expected to reopen in late August 2022.
Station underground entrances - why are they two stories?
AnonymousHello, I hope you are well! I've been trying to sort out why the entrances for the underground stations are so gigantic...using the second entrance for Mount Pleasant as an example, it's really just some stairs and an escalator...so why is there an entire second storey on this structure? Nothing critical...just nerdy curiosity :)
When will the official opening be?
AnonymousJust curious on when the official opening of the Crosstown LRT will be. I know that the trains are doing testing right now and most of the stations are ready.

Westward Extension and Integration with Mount Dennis
AnonymousHow will the construction of the ECW Extension affect access to the Main entrance at Mount Dennis Station, the beautiful new Bike Garage and the bike trail between Black Creek and Weston Rd? Will pedestrians and cyclists be able to access the main entrance and the amenities around it? If not, will the secondary access under the rail bridge be accessible from East and West directions? How much of the sidewalk and trail will be occupied over the next 8 to 12 years?
Answer
MetrolinxMetrolinx will ensure there is accessible public access to the Mount Dennis Station throughout construction. The majority of construction will occur west of Mount Dennis Station. Metrolinx will continue to inform the public of any sidewalk or cycling restrictions as construction moves forward and will arrange alternative routes as necessary.
Why does it still look so unfinished ?
AnonymousOk let's be real here this isn't opening until well into 2023 or later. When viewing the slides for the first few stations Mt. Denis to Caledonia it looked like they were almost done but the rest of them look much less complete than the others and have a much longer to do list. I have no reason to believe that at the rate of progress we have seen thus far that the line will be done construction by the end of the year as promised or even open in early 2023 as we had hoped. At this point I would almost put money on the finch lrt being done first.

AnonymousWhen will the UP express stop open?
AnonymousWill UP express trains start making stops at Mount Dennis on the same date the LRT opens?
Cedarvale
AnonymousWill there be a fare-paid connection between lines 1 & 5 within Cedarvale's station's concourse
Answer: Fare-paid connection
MetrolinxOnce the Eglinton Line becomes operational it will be fully integrated into the existing TTC transit system. If you pay your fare at an entry point for Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) you will be able to switch to Line 5 (Eglinton) without paying another fare because it will be part of the same network. You will be able to switch to and from Line 5 the same way you can switch between all the other lines (Sheppard, Bloor and Scarborough RT) currently, at no additional cost/fare.

Are all the stations accessible to the physically, deaf and blin
Anonymousand blind riders? #2: How are you compensating the business for the huge loss of income? #3 Why did so many of your workers take up the very important parking spaces that helped business fail because no one had anywhere to park? #4 Why did you not have (and still do not have) people monitoring the horrible traffic mess at the various intersections along Eglinton so that the traffic mess would have at least been reduced?
When can we realistically expect to start using the LRT?
AnonymousMany of the stations, Cedervale, Chaplin, do not look even near ready.
Thanks and regards
Answer: Cedarvale & Chaplin Stations
MetrolinxThe final stages of construction are underway at Cedarvale and Chaplin Stations. Within the stations, the architectural finishes are being installed in the Station Box and at the Entrances. At the surface level, crews are installing permanent wet and dry utilities, and restoring the road and sidewalks.
