Why is Eglinton station still going to be called "Eglinton"? In Toronto, intersection stations have the following naming style: "Bloor-Yonge" or "Sheppard-Yonge". In the case of Bloor-Yonge station, the Line 1 platform is called "Bloor" and the Line 2 platform is called "Yonge", because people already what street they are currently on and they need to know the name of the opposing street.

It makes no sense to keep the name of this station. It should be called "Eglinton-Yonge". I know that the naming process has closed, but it's not too late! Isn't so obvious that "Eglinton-Yonge" is the only logical name for this very important station? It's not too late, and I hope Metrolinx could still reconsider this issue.

Naming principles were established and applied consistently across the regional transit network. Public input was sought for proposed names. Metrolinx’s Design Excellence team completed a study on regional transit wayfinding harmonization including station, stop, and interchange naming. As part of this, a set of principles was established for selecting names which, applied consistently across the regional transit network, will help to make transit easier to navigate and avoid customer confusion. Why hasn't the metrostincks CEO been fired for this mess of a project? Overtime and over budget - and he still got his 2020 pay raise! Chances are this line won't open in 2022 due to metrolinx incompetence.

Unfortunately, Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) has faced a number of challenges since the start of the project, including starting nine months later than planned after contract award in July 2015,  CTS was slow to finalize the designs with some design work packages, and although CTS has significantly improved its production rate since the 2018 agreement, it has achieved only 84 per cent of its target, meaning the project will be delayed. In addition, an unpredictable, but safe, defect was found under the TTC station box at Eglinton-Yonge station. Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, CTS, and the TTC have been seized with addressing this defect and although a way forward has been determined, the station will be delayed further. It is important to note that the project remains within budget. We will keep the public apprised on a consistent basis over the next year on how work is progressing.

even though you can build cut-and-cover stations can you build cut-and-cover tunnels? I bet it can be useful in a tunnel segment but in this phrase

perhaps cut-and-cover tunnels can used in the Eglinton Crosstown's extensions.

We have looked at two types of construction methods for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension: cut-and-cover and tunnel boring. Tunnel boring has fewer surface impacts and we can design it to avoid major impacts to underground utilities, which in turn reduces local impacts even further. We are proceeding with the twin-bore method to construct the tunnel alignment from Renforth to west of Scarlett.

Along with the stations and elevated guideway, the tunneled section east of Jane and into Mt. Dennis is a part of the Stations, Rail and Systems contract beginning in approximately 2025. As we are in the early stages of design for these elements, we are still determining the construction approach for this tunneled section. For the future stations, we are currently considering a cut-and-cover construction approach. As the design advances and we have more details to share, we will come back to the community for feedback and input.
