A connection to Line 2 on the Barrie corridor is very important. There will be a connection to Line 1 at Downsview, and a connection to the ELRT (Line 5). If this stop is not created we risk over-burdening Line 5, which has a much lower capacity than the subway along Bloor. This would also service many west end Torontonians that study at York U with a more direct connection. The alternative would be to use the Kitchener line from Bloor to Mount Dennis, Line 5 from Mount Dennis to caledonia and then the Barrie Line from Caledonia to Downsview Park, finally trnsfering to line 1 to get to york. That could be 3 to 5 transfers as opposed to 1 or 2. The same holds true for residents in Vaughan that work along Bloor. Add the fact that Metrolinx plans on running an overpass through this neighborhood, and it would be crazy to not give these people a stop. It's the only way to save this neighborhood from a collapse in property values.

Will, I agree 100 percent, that if the Barrie line is going to expand to 180 trains a day, it makes every kind of sense to link it to the one high capacity transit rail it crosses. It will also, allow Riders from Barrie rail corridor to access the UPX line, without having to go all the way downtown, finally a connection for people living somewhere else that would make the airport link a sensible one to take, driving to Pearson from Barrie and back, sucks. Finally, I also concur that a local station is also the only way to slightly offset the real estate value damage the GO Gardiner will be doing to the neighbourhood.

A connection to the Bloor Danforth subway would be a well used connection. The more connections to the major TTC systems, the better. Every subway line should have a connection to every GO line other than Union. This means that the GO line would be used for more than just travel to/from downtown Toronto.

By the way, you maps need more street names and details.

This line, and every GO line should connect w/all higher-order transit (at least subways and underground LRT) that it crosses. A connection to the Bloor Subway advantages existing riders/those who who might be new riders via the subway, or those who may transfer to a different GO Route at this location

Why is this stop rated "low" for travel time savings? "Low" for whom? It seems to me that this analysis is not taking into account the full potential of the Barrie line for travel within the city. Having this stop at Bloor (or less preferably at Dundas/Lansdowne with connections to two streetcars) will yield huge travel time savings for anyone who commutes from the West End to York University (and that's quite a few people, frankly). Currently, such a trip takes easily 1 hour or more, involving either a very long bus ride (such as the 41 Keele), or two lengthy subway rides, with a transfer at St.George (and another transfer to the 196 bus, until that time when the subway extension is complete).

Introducing a Bloor-Davenport stop on the Barrie Line would cut this travel time by more than HALF. As an added benefit, it would take pressure of the subway system, providing relief for the St.George transfer station by not forcing people to go out of their way just to be able to transfer.

This appears from the Bloor Danforth line on the given map. In this area the subway runs north of Bloor, having a poor connection to the TTC would give this station poor usage. At this specific spot, the station should not be built. Up at Bloor with an underground connection to what appears to be Landsdowne station would be a go.

I'm with Frankie about the location on this one. I always thought the stop would sit North of Bloor, but it looks like it would actually be south of Bloor. Regardless of positioning, a pedestrian friendly connection is imperative. The distance from the South side stop is about 300m, this isn't perfect but it's reasonable. I have transferred from S-Bahn to U-Bahn in Berlin and some distances seemed to be the same distance as this, but the fact that the connections were underground made it seamless and easy, the same goes for longer transfers in Lisbon. On the other hand, I have transferred from Chicago's El train to their subway line within the Loop, and even though it was less than 100m, crossing the street in mixed traffic made it extremely awkward. First thing's first... this is probably the most important stop being considered, let's hope it gets built and that the connection will make it easy for commuters during any season.

I agree with many of the earlier comments. A connection to the Bloor subway (Line 2) on the Barrie corridor is very important, particularly for anyone who is starting or ending anywhere near Line 2 (this includes Etobicoke, West End and East Toronto), and anyone who starts/ends their journey with a bus. Without this stop, the Barrie corridor would not adequately be integrated into the higher order transit system -- the Barrie corridor would only act to connect those in Barrie/Newmarket etc working in the downtown core. Furthermore, it would burden Line 1 and create a lot of unneccessary back-tracking on the transit system for many.

I also agree that adding a stop in this area would give a benefit to the residents directly affected by the overpass/Davenport Diamond.

Connection / Station at this location on Barrie Line significantly increase the connectivity for ridership with surronding transit networks and York University.
