Archaeology – Environmental Impact Assessment Report

← Return to Draft Environmental Impact Assessment Report

Key Findings

  • Most of the Study Area has been cleared of archaeological concerns. Where archaeological potential is present and disturbance is anticipated, further archaeological assessments will be completed prior to construction.
  • Impacts are not anticipated during operations, as no additional ground disturbance is planned for operations or maintenance activities.
  • Metrolinx is collaborating with agencies, Indigenous Nations and public stakeholders regarding the First Parliament site and other sites of archaeological investigations and mitigation.

Potential Effects & Mitigation Measures

Potential Effects:

  • During construction, there is potential for the recovery and disturbance of unassessed and undocumented archaeological resources.

Mitigation Measures:

  • Complete additional archaeological assessment(s) where required as early as possible and in advance of any ground disturbance.
  • If unexpected archaeological materials are encountered (or suspected), all work will stop at that location. The site will be protected from impact until assessment by a licensed archaeologist.
