Streetscape and Public Realm Amount project allocation

MetrolinxThe FWLRT project carries provision for streetscape and public realm enhancements identified in the streetscape guidelines developed jointly by the City of Toronto and the Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) namely Emery Village and DUKE Heights that exceeded City Standards namely:

• Street lighting poles and fixtures
• Street furniture
• Pavement markings that contribute to the identity of the BIAs, and
• New cycling infrastructure including raised cycle tracks and Multi Use Paths (MUPs)
Are there plans to expand towards the airport?

MetrolinxThe Metrolinx Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) is based on the Ottawa LRV, but is not the same vehicle. The Ottawa LRV will be operating for several years before being introduced to Finch West. Applicable lessons learned from the performance of the Ottawa vehicle are incorporated into Metrolinx LRVs.
Will you have someone monitoring that lanes aren't closed on the

MetrolinxThe burn-in track works will begin in February 2021 to facilitate light rail vehicle (LRV) testing. Track installation slated to take place throughout this year into 2022. Most bus shelters will remain in place post-LRT. As bus shelters belong to the City, the expectation is that any surplus will be reused by the City eventually.
How will the guideway be segregated from traffic?
AnonymousWill it be obvious to drivers that they shouldn't be driving in the guideway? Paving/paint/curbs etc. We don't want a similar situation to Queens Quay where drivers accidentally drive down the ramp into the tunnel!

MetrolinxThe Guideway will be slightly elevated off the ground and will contain signage indicating to drivers the guideway is for LRV's only, with the exception of emergency vehicles.
Why is there no dedicated signal priority on the line?

MetrolinxTraffic Signal Priority (TSP) function will be implemented for all 24 intersections along the Finch West Light Rail Transit guideway. Direct Signaling and Train Control System interface to traffic controllers will be implemented for the TSP function. There will be 3 different types of signals at each signalized intersection: pedestrian signals, traffic signals for road vehicles and transit signals. In general, light rail vehicles will follow the transit signals specifically for Finch West LRT vehicles.

Landscaping and tree planting

MetrolinxFollowing construction completion of the Finch West LRT line, Mosaic will consult with the City to refine the tree replacement and compensation strategy, in line with City Urban Forestry guidelines. Where possible, Mosaic will replant trees close to the location of the removed trees. However, the replanting area may change depending on the need and available space. We will liaise with the City to determine new locations of replacement trees.
A tree maintenance period will be put in place to monitor newly planted trees. New trees will be planted in compliance with the City of Toronto’s Tree Replacement Policy.
Heaters in shelters

Humber College connection distance
AnonymousIt should be made clear that the LRT stop near Humber College is to be located about 300 m (1000') away from the Humber College Bus Terminal, where TTC, BT, MiWay, GO, and YRT buses converge. The LRT will terminate along Highway 27, not on Humber College property. Transferring passengers will use an open air sidewalk between the two separate facilities.

MetrolinxA covered walkway will run from the plaza of the southern entrance building towards the College and terminate at Arboretum Blvd. directly opposite the existing bus terminal. The covered walkway is a 3m wide and approximately190m long.
