Deep excavation, hauling, concrete works and material deliveries will continue at the surface through 2020. Permanent works have commenced at the main entrance and will continue into late 2020, including waterproofing, formwork, rebar installation and concrete works. The restoration phase and above grade works will begin toward the end of 2020.

During the Environmental Assessment and preliminary design for the Crosstown project there were many factors that were evaluated to determine the optimal location for entrances at all stations. For most of the underground Line Stations on the project, there are two entrances, a primary fully accessible entrance, and a secondary entrance to allow easy access to north south bus routes and to meet code requirements for exiting. At a few stations, consideration was given to the incorporation of a third entrance.  

Although Chaplin Station is not considered a high-traffic station, in consultation with City of Toronto Planning, Urban Design and Park, Recreation and Forestry, a third entrance was included to connect to the Kay Gardner Beltline Trail located at the west end of the station.

Will buses stop at Crosstown station entrances, such as at Bathurst and Avenue, or will people have to walk or cross the street to get to and from the station entrance?

The 5 Avenue and 61 Avenue Road North buses will continue to run north-south along Avenue Rd. Transit users will be able to transfer to these routes at street level without paying again. Avenue Station will not have a TTC bus loop or other transfer point within a paid-fare zone, but riders will able to use a transfer/proof-of-payment (i.e. PRESTO card) to transfer from the Crosstown line to the bus. Any changes to TTC bus routes are at the discretion of TTC and their service planning team. 

Similarly, the 7 Bathurst bus will continue to run along Bathurst St. Connections to bus routes from Forest Hill Station (Bathurst St) will be made at street level using a transfer/proof-of-payment or by tapping your PRESTO card (no charge for transfers).

At this point, work on our construction sites is moving forward as planned. This was confirmed by the Premier. However, there is a clear expectation for our contractors to ensure the health and safety of all of their workers and if that cannot be guaranteed work must immediately cease. We are closely to monitor the working conditions of all construction sites. Both Metrolinx and our contractor are working proactively to adapt the worksites to protect the health and safety of workers as we continue to build this important project.

What buses will service this area when the project is complete. Will they run from Don Mills station at Eglinton, up through Concorde Place ? Will the bus to Broadview station run out of the Don Mills Station to Broadview ? Can we have a fully electric bus running from Don Mills station up through Concorde Place and back to Don Mills station ? We have a lot of noisy bus traffic up through Concorde Place now, so fewer buses and preferably electric would be a great benefit to the many condo buildings and rental buildings in this area.

The TTC will make all decisions pertaining to changes in bus routing, frequency, and service. They will also be undertaking public consultations on bus route changes related to the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.

Since I heard that Line 5 will open in 2022, I wanted to ask if all stations for this line will open at the same time or will open separately like next year in 2021 while others in 2022?

Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario are not making any detailed predictions at this time. Our constructor must show that they can achieve the production rates they have stated. We will keep the public apprised on a consistent basis over the next two years on how work is progressing.

Prior to construction, traffic became backed up on Eglinton at Leslie, particularly during rush hour because of dedicated left turn signals to and from Leslie. Upon completion, this may also cause LRT trains to become backed up at Leslie unless signals are adjusted to permit a waiting train to advance before traffic is permitted to turn left to and from Leslie.

There will be 3 different types of signals at each signalized intersection on the at-grade; pedestrian signals, traffic signals for road vehicles and transit signals. In general, light rail vehicles will follow road signals, so will need to stop at reds, wait for the advance turns to finish and then proceed on green.

It appears based on track record, this will not be finished until Fall 2020 at best. Can you not increase work hours and number of workers? Often I go by a site and no one is there or skel;eton staff at best?

Progress continues on the Eglinton Crosstown, with some stations expected to reach completion later this year. It was announced in February that it is expected that the LRT will open well into 2022.

Metrolinx will keep the public informed over the next two years on the progress and what the projected completion dates will be.

To stay consistent with other TTC stations, and avoid confusion, shouldn't it be called Eglinton-Yonge? If a passenger is traveling across Eglinton Avenue and wants to go to Yonge Street it doesn't make sense to get off at a station called Eglinton. The other interchange stations on Yonge subway are called Bloor-Yonge and Sheppard-Yonge so why not follow the same naming convention?

One one of your visualisations I see F150 turning right from a turning lane next to bike paint on his left. How many cyclists will it kill while crossing the paint? Who designed that and why this person doesn't like humans?

All over Europe light rail and street cars never stop at traffic lights as they are programmed to always show green. Will the crosstown use this technology? And if not, why give cars priority over trains?

Why do Crosslinx Transit Solutions Constructors CTSC agreements with residents require the terms, conditions and existence of the agreement and any related agreement with Metrolinx remain confidential?

... "Bayview South" which it is? Was this a deliberate move to have Leaside expanded to both sides of Bayview Avenue South and near western streets and turn this into Leaside village? Intentional or not that will happen once the station is up and running. What is the plan? And who decided on this approach?

On the surface section, will the new presto fare boxes be in use or the older ones? If so will they have open payment on day 1 since GO transit will have open payment on a trial basis later this year?

Fare Collection Systems will be installed to the latest PRESTO standards for the system – similar to those currently being installed at GO Stations. In regards to turning on open payment, that decision will rest with the TTC, who will be operating the future Line 5 [Eglinton Crosstown].
