It makes no sense to add a GO station at Lawrence East or Ellesmere when the planned subway extension will be running parallel to the GO line here. Stations should be built closer together on the subway line instead of the GO line, which is intended for moving long distance passengers quickly with fewer stops.

I agree with Alan that this should be on the subway line, as things stand today with no connection downtown planned this is another station that should be added to provide connectivity, redundancy and ease of access to the east end of Lawrence in Scarborough.

This station, like the other stations proposed for SmartTrack, are warranted if/when the final decision on the Scarborough RT/Subway is made. I still think the LRT is best for Scarborough and an East-West alignment serves the Centre and its 3 precincts much better than a North-South subway (whether it's 3 stops or 1).

If the one-stop subway goes ahead, as per the most recent plans, then we need this stop along with Ellesmere, Sheppard, Finch etc...

I would normally agree with the comments before mine, but not with the price of underground stops that could be served equally with a lower cost above ground option. I prefer to utilize the existing GO line and adding in new stations than spending millions on underground stations and tunnels.

If we could rely on evidence based planning, then the LRT to STC trumps all these other options and GO would remain an express service with new stops at Finch and at Sheppard, leaving the LRT to service Ellesmere and Lawrence with a transit hub at Kennedy serving all 4 lines (GO, LRT Line 5, LRT/SRT Line 3 and Subway Line 2).

I agree with Will's point that underground stations are more expensive to build. Is there any reason why the subway extension can't run at ground level along the existing SRT corridor though? There are other sections of the subway that run at ground level, so it's not unusual to do that. I realize that the SRT has some sharp curves that a subway train can't handle, so short sections may need to be tunneled underground to round out the curves, but it should still be a lot cheaper than building the entire line underground.

The curve for the subway to connect with the current SRT alignment is too sharp. The current plans for Kennedy station won't allow for that curve either.

I'm all for expropriation if required to make the subway above ground and lower the cost of the subway.
